I’ve wanted a “coffee table computer” for years…

I too have noticed the “just a big iPod touch” comments, and found them rather puzzling, since I have wanted a big iPod touch since they first introduced it.

Apple left out a couple of my pet wish-list items (camera and multiple user logins), but overall the iPad is an amazing device.

This is going to be fun to watch…

Hey Owen! I feel exactly as your dad does re: treating it like a book. Many of my librarian-colleagues feel the same way and already treat their iPhones/laptops/blackberries etc in that manner. In a more literal sense, I actually thought “wow I could enjoy reading a book on this”. …though there are quite a few jokes about the name and feminine hygiene products (maybe because we’re all women).

I think once we start thinking of it as an appliance and not a computer replacement, it makes sense.

I think you & Jeff LaMarche have hit the nail right on the head.

Funny that people also dismissed the first-gen iPhone for similar reasons. And we all know how THAT turned out.
