Graphics on the iPhone 3G S
June 21st, 2009
Noel Llopis, over at Snappy Touch, has written up a great article at Mobile Orchard on the new iPhone 3G S graphics hardware (the PowerVR SGX) and what it means to us as iPhone game developers. If you’ve been curious about what’s under the hood and what it can do, give Noel’s article a read:

For those who are curious, I will be writing up a post on my experience at WWDC sometime this coming week. I’ve just needed some time to process it all.

Thanks for linking to this Owen, I was starting to wonder what the ramifications of new iPhone graphics hardware would be for future game development.
Unfortunately Apple is in a tough spot here, they have to continue to innovate now that other handset makers are starting to catch up. At the same time they need to avoid fragmenting the market so much that the developers that made the iPhone a success get frustrated and move to another platform.
Cheers,
Wally
I wonder when we’ll see a hardware upgrade for the Touch? Considering 2/3rds of our audience are those users, I hope soon.

Iphone 3G is so packed of features and it really looks cool too. I own one iPhone 3G and i am planning to buy another one for my girlfriend.
