Now I’m Really Ticked…

Someone hacked my damn site again last night. I logged in this morning to figure out why my RSS feeds weren’t updating and discovered the same hack had been done to the site as was done a few weeks ago.

It’s time to talk to my web host about getting out of my contract with them. This is ridiculous. If they can’t provide me with security then I shouldn’t have to pay them. Whenever I talk to them about it they send me a auto-reply about how there’s a new Windows trojan horse going around that can read my FTP password and log into my site and that I should just run a virus scanner. Problem is: 1) I run a Mac 2) I run virus scans every night on my machine and it has turned up nothing.

Back in the world of gaming, yesterday I spent the morning getting a high score flow into the end of the game. It’s good news as now the player knows that his/her game has ended and it will track their 10 top scores (it even lets them enter a name for each score). It looks pretty awful right now, but it’s functional. It also allows to player to start a new game without having to reboot the game, so that’s good news.

Then I spent the afternoon drawing up wireframe mockups of all my front end screens (the ‘front end’ is what all the menus that come before the game are called). Wireframes are just black and white, box diagrams showing the components that appear on each menu/screen. The idea is to list out all the information an artist needs to know in order to create a design for the screen. It shows what widgets need to be on the screen and how much text needs to appear there. I actually had a lot of fun drawing them up. I suppose I should have done this earlier, but better late than never…
